Website Advisor checks baseline SEO and discoverability signals as part of every scan. These are the foundational elements that search engines need to find and index your site properly.
What gets checked
- robots.txt: whether it exists, is accessible, and does not accidentally block important pages.
- sitemap.xml: whether it exists, is referenced in robots.txt, and contains valid URLs.
- Meta tags: title tag, meta description, Open Graph tags, and canonical URL.
- Heading structure: whether there is a clear H1 and logical heading hierarchy.
- Rendered content: whether important content is available in the initial HTML or requires JavaScript to render (which can affect search engine crawling).
Google Search Console integration
Pro users can connect Google Search Console to import real search performance data directly into their scan reports. Once connected, the integration automatically refreshes on subsequent scans and monitoring reruns. The imported data includes top search queries, click-through rates, landing page performance, and impression data.
To connect: click the Import Search Console button in the executive state header of any completed scan report. You will be redirected to Google to authorize read-only access.
